Some of you might remember awhile back we featured a silver RX8 dumped on xxr’s- well it has come a very long way, and this gorgeous RX8 you see here is the outcome of lots of hard work and dedication. What started off as a desire to slam his RX8 lower than most people would dare drive any car static has now brought him to the point where he has found the limits, researched a bit and blown the limits away. Danny, the owner has taken his slampiece to the next level.
His RX-8 now sits on a set of chameleon Work Rezax’s (11″ front and 12″ rear) built and finished by Sergey’s House of Wheels.
Danny’s story goes as follows “I’ll start from the beginning as to deciding what wheels I wanted. When I sold the xxr’s and put my car up on stands at the end of last years show season I knew that I wanted JDM wheels but I still had no clue what kind. I couldn’t justify myself spending so much money on wheels I wasn’t fully committed to. There are so many over played wheels that people buy then pass around, I’m not going to list any but everyone knows which wheels I’m talking about. After going through Stance:Nations pictures for weeks on end I finally found the wheel I really wanted: Work Rezax classics. The faces had an old school look and the wheels had so much potential to make one of a kind. I knew right away that I wanted to do massive reverse lips for that more modern touch. I never originally intended to do such insane fitment on the Rx8. I was going to stay moderate with a size I knew would fit…. until I started talking to Sergey about rebuilding the wheels. Once I told him about the build I planned he convinced me to do more aggressive. He asked me “What’s the most aggressive wheels ever put on an Rx8? We’re going to do at least 20mm more aggressive than that.” and the build went from there!”
Danny’s favorite feature of the car is the camber, it currently has -5 degree’s in front and -7.5 in the rear.
The outstanding bodywork that made it possible to fit the crazy wheel set-up was done by Sergey’s House of Wheels as well as the building and painting of the wheels.
Danny plans to bag the car for next season, he has driven the car with about 2″ of chassis clearance and 1″ of bumper clearance for quite awhile and breaking aero gets old. He has proven he can drive a slammed car static, this is his only bumper and it just has minor battle scars. Now he wants to be able to enjoy the car more on bags come next season.
Danny brought the Chameleon accent on the wheels in the engine bay as well.
