Automotive Aerodynamics

Aerodynamics, we’ve all heard of it. The person who just knows a little may say, “Oh yeah, I’ve heard of that, it has to do with air moving around stuff.” Whereas the more knowledgeable person may declare, “It is the study of the properties of moving air, and especially of the interaction between the air and solid bodies moving through it.” Some of you are probably thinking, “Anthony, What the hell does this have to do with clean whips, new tunes and fresh threads? You guys ever see those pretty carbon fiber spoilers, splitters and canards on cars at the local meet? Well all those cool looking parts actually have a purpose, and that purpose is rooted in aerodynamics, more specifically, the aerodynamics of an automobile.

Attached bellow is a 20 page paper I wrote about automotive aerodynamics. Now the paper isn’t the greatest literary piece ever written, but if you read it, you might just learn something interesting. Even if you think you know everything about automotive aerodynamics, I can almost guarantee you that you will probably still learn something new since it actually delves a bit into the history of aerodynamic automobiles. If you don’t think you can read 20pgs double spaced, I also provided a pretty good powerpoint (if I do say so myself), which has some of the info from the paper in it. It has a lot of great visuals that helps explain things better, so be sure to view the powerpoint in slideshow format.

Paper: Automotive aerodynamics III
Power Point: Automotive Aerodynamics 5

Note: Please don’t just copy & paste my paper and turn it in for yourself. Just site it or quote it or just go to the sources that I got it from. I say this for your benefit, this paper was submitted to turnitin.com or something by my school, so you’ll probably get caught for plagiarism.

Disclaimer: I’m not perfect, so there might be some incorrect info, as well as grammatical mistakes.
