Street Driven Tour Presents: Hyperfest 2016

Another year, another Street Driven Tour event in the books.  This year’s event took me to Virginia International Raceway for Hyperfest which featured just about anything and everything automotive.  Drifting, time attack, auto X, karting, off-road and mudding, and even lawn mower racing….yes, lawn mower racing.  This was my first time attending Hyperfest and I gotta say it wont be my last.  It was also my first time covering track based photography and throughout the day I practiced my panning and tracking.  It’s a lot harder than most people think, keeping the background in motion while at the same time keeping the subject in focus.  The event’s were very spread out and had I known you could rent a golf kart to get around with probably would’ve made my life and job a whole lot easier.  The weather played out in my favor since the whole week prior was non-stop rain and for a good part of the day was overcast and I still managed to get burned pretty good…white people problems smh.

The closest event as I came over the bridge was the drift event.  It was separated by 3 classes with the Formula D guys being in class “A”.  There were a lot of teams out there just itching to get some sliding in, some who were local near me.

Subie purists beware, this bugeye belongs to Justin Woo and its LS swapped and RWD.  Let the hate flow in…unless you really like it.  We here at Carshype like it Justin!

“What have I done?!”

Vaughn Gittin Jr and Ryan Tuerck about to head out on to the track with some lucky fans in the passenger seat

Hangz and chit-chat with Vaughn and Chris Forsberg

Hi Ryan!

Subaru’s, Subaru’s everywhere.  Jhonny thinks he’s slick back there in the back of my car giving me a nice gesture lol

Matthew Meadow’s white with ghost pearl flake bugeye.  I never get tired of snapping pics of this car.

What’s up Antonio.  Antonio is a good friend and fellow photographer from the Raleigh, NC area.  He produces amazing work for Zen Garage, an automotive and lifestyle site located in Australia.  To the right is Frank Toner’s Nissan Cima.
